The History of CGI in the movies
The first ever computer animated film was humming bird, but the first extensive computer animated film to use 3D was Tron in 1982. computer used to create the CGI in this film was a 2GB computer which roughly is about 1/2000th of the capacity of your average PC.
The adventures of André and Wally B was the first animation produced by Pixar in 1984. The team at Pixar pioneered the first use of motion blur, a massive breakthrough in computer animating.
Toy Story was the first feature length CGI film by Pixar in 1995. Bill Reeves says “If we’d known how small our budget and our crew was, we probably would have been scared out of our gourds. But we didn’t, so it just felt like we were having a good time.”
